Community Involvement

Founded in 1989 at the suggestion of employees as a way to give back to communities in which we live and operate, Santa Train has become a beloved and enduring tradition each year.  Making twelve stops along our network during the first weekend of each December, Santa and Mrs. Claus greet children of all ages aboard INRD’s vintage passenger cars. An all-volunteer endeavor, this free event not only spreads Christmas cheer, but also provides cold weather gear to families in need during the holiday season.

The Indiana Rail Road Company is committed to assisting community partnerships that directly benefit public safety and in-school education.  Our goal is to touch as many lives in the communities through which we operate as possible, and for that reason, our Community Grant Program focuses exclusively on serving the police, fire rescue and educational institutions of central and southwest Indiana, and eastern Illinois.
