Indianapolis, IN – January 13, 2026 – The Indiana Rail Road Company (INRD) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Derrick Wright has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 16, 2026.
Wright joined INRD in November 2022 as Vice President, Operations & Mechanical, where he has played a pivotal role in advancing operational efficiency and safety initiatives. With more than 20 years of leadership experience in Class I, II, and III railroads, Wright brings a proven track record of strategic vision and operational excellence.
Prior to joining INRD, Wright served as Chief Operating Officer at Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District, overseeing the South Shore Line between South Bend and Chicago. He also held the position of Vice President, Operations at Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services, Inc., where he managed operating departments for fifteen short line and regional railroads. Wright began his railroading career at CSX, progressing through roles including Yardmaster, Trainmaster, Terminal Manager, and Superintendent.
